Match report Oakfield Parkonians drew with Belhus 4th XI away on Saturday 9th July 16

Parks once again were unlucky not to force a win as Belhus ensured a draw with the last two wickets remaining in their 41 overs. Earlier, Parks scored a mere 149 for 7 wickets in 45 overs after inserted to bat first in a very difficult wicket thanks to a patient knock from Maran Mariyathas (44 no). Having lost the opening batsmen early in the innings, Adam Goldman (27) and Gurmit Bhatia (12)batted well until Belhus skipper John Wilson brought himself to bowl and removed both batsmen in quick succession and claimed 2 more wickets in his spell of 14 overs. Karthegan Thavanesan (20)and Pirra Vigs (20) were the only other batsmen contributed to the Parks total. R Long for Belhus bowled well and finished with 3 wickets for 38 runs in 13 overs.

Belhus suffered loss of early wickets as the opening bowlers Nav Kally and Akhil Patel made use of the pitch condition well and Nav Kally got rewarded with wickets of top three batsmen. Belhus never looked to chase the total as they lost wickets on regular change of bowling especially to Young Karthegan who captured two wickets in the same overs with his magical leg spin bowling. However Belhus skipper coming in number 7 defiantly batted through the allotted overs scoring 64 for 8 wickets to ensure a draw. Despite this inevitable draw, 4th is still in the contention of promotion with 8 more league games still to be played.
