Match report Parks 3's kicked off the season against Loughton 5th, a side that we struggled to draw against in the same fixture last year. Fortunately for us, Loughton were a little short of senior players for this game, with 5 colts playing senior cricket for the first time, and although they all performed admirably, Parks were clearly the better side and the result reflected that.

Batting first Parks opening bat Sifth Ali powered the ball to all parts, making his first hundred for the club in the process. It is safe to say he faced far fewer balls than runs scored, eventually falling on 104. He was aided first by Teerath Diocee (24) and then by captain Alan Bouquet (59*), before Parks declared on 252/3 after just 34 overs. This meant they had at least 51 overs back at the opposition.

Parks needed most of those overs, mostly down to some stoic defence by the young Loughton opening bat, who saw off 20 overs of attack from an experienced Parks bowling lineup. It was only when debutant Awais Shah came on that inroads began to be made. Awais took 4/16 in 8 overs, and with good contributions from Ibrahim Iqbal (2/16), Nav Kalley (2/19) and Amit Kalley (2/21), the game was eventually wrapped up after 41 overs of the second innings, with Loughton making 102.

A good win that secures 25 points for Parks to start the season. Wanstead 6th next week may pose a stiffer test.
