Match report Oakfield went out in this game with a very different side than usual - it was effectively a veterans XI with only one colt and the next oldest being 30. It is hoped that with the league beginning next week, that some of the younger players will be able to help strengthen the fielding in particular.

Despite playing a league rival, this game was played in a very friendly atmosphere, with 8 bowlers used by Parks in the 1st innings to help give all the squad a run out before the league games next week. Wickets were shared around amongst the team, with 2 for Nav Kalley, 2 for Maran Mariyathas and 2 for Shahid Khan. Young Jaydeep Dhuria was the standout in the field, taking 3 catches where some of the senior players shelled their chances.

Buckhurst Hill made a very stiff total of 258/9 in the end and it was always going to be difficult to chase it down. Gurmit Bhatia put on 93, falling just short of his hundred, and Mazham Ali contributed a useful 29, but even when they were going well, the total was always a bit out of reach.

With 8 down and 1 man injured and unable to bat, it was left to Nav and Subash Patel to bat out for the draw in the last over, ensuring that the 3s start the season without losing. Much better is expected next week at Loughton.
