Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 22 runs

Match report A cold day saw newly promoted OAkfield Parkonians take on Orsett at the playing fields in the Ilford.

With no play possible last week players went in without any practice games in hand and relied heavily on their ability to turn the screws on. Skipper, Jibran Azam, lost the toss and was asked to bat without any hesitation by Paul Bennet, the opposition skipper. Without doubt this was a wise decision as runs came at a slow rate due to
Slowness of the wicket. Some useful contributions gave a slimmer of a hope for a decent total. But a collapse saw Parks at 120-7. Eshun Kalley and Usman Aslam joined in the middle to steady the boat and played solid knocks to steer Parks to safety. Selvam hit some lusty blows to take Parks to a decent total of 192 for 9 in their allocated 45 overs.

Orsett came out with positive intentions to chase the total. They started off well as Bennet hit some lust blows to make short work of Parks but Selvam, right arm fast medium, had some other plans. He made the most of the conditions and swung the ball in both directions, occasionally troubling the batsmen with toe crushing yorkers. Aman Ali was introduced to provide a breakthrough and soon found himself on the wickets cloumn as he dragged one short with dangerous looking Bennet only managing to pull one straight to Jibran. The breakthrough gave a sniff to Parks who then did not think of looking back. Bowlers kept taking wickets until Orsett were bowled out for 172 in 41.2 overs. A special win sees Parks in the second round for the first time in their history.

Special mention to you g Eshun Kalley who batted maturely to steer Parks to safety, Selva and Jibran who both took
4 wickets each.
