Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 4 runs

Match report On a cloudy overcast day, Oakfield Parkonians lost the toss and were asked to bat first. The opening pair started well but Oakfield Parkonians lost their first wicket with only a handful of runs on the board and then a quick fluster of wickets soon saw Parks at 37-3 and in some trouble. However a steady partnership between Haris Khan and Paran Kalley saw Parks through to drinks with the score at 90-3 but shortly afterwards Parks lost Harris for 34. Paran batted well to reach his half century and it was really good to see the young prospect back in form as his first fifty of the season included ten 4s. Good cameos from Glenn Sasikaran (38) and Eshun Kalley (27) ensured that parks finished on 229 all out, which looked out of reach when they were 37-3.

In reply, Hutton got off to a cautious start and both openers were struggling with the swinging ball which saw Selvam Ramasamy get the first of his 7 wickets. After this early loss, Hutton looked to be coasting and both batsmen reached fifties without too much trouble. However, a breakthrough from Jibran Azam gave Parks some hope but Mowall batted very well to reach his hundred and looked on course to see Hutton home for a very comfortable win. However, the Parks's bowlers had other idea as from being 200-4, there was a mini collapse and Hutton were soon 213-6 and a further three quick wickets from Selvam saw Hutton 9 wickets down. It all went to the last over and up stepped the captain as it was still anyone’s game as Hutton needed 10 runs and Parks one wicket. Jibran Azam's first ball of the final over was smashed for a 4 but a slog from the batsmen was caught by Ramya and Parks won the game by 4 runs and after being down and almost out, Parks snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The main difference was Selvam who bowled his heart out to finish with amazing figure of 16-5-57-7 and was well supported by Jibran (7-3-44-3) and the 25 points saw Parks move up to 2nd in the league, a mere 7 points off top spot and face their local rivals Hainualt & Clayhall next week.
