Match report Oakfield Parkonians Sunday A team at last registered their first win against Bradley Kane, an away 40 over match played in a lovely sunny day at the centre of a massive Greenwich Park, in front of probably a record number of spectators.
With a delayed start Parks were put in to bat first, made an impressive start as James Foley and Alan Bouquet put on an opening partnership of 56 which came in with four consecutive four boundaries by James Foley in the 8th over. Having lost Alan in the next over for well made 20, first change bowler Selva surprised James with his first delivery with a yorker length ball which uprooted the off stump and bowled Maran Mariyathas in the same manner with the next ball. He went on to claim another wicket of Shahid Khan trapping LBW in the same over, Parks were left reeling on 56 for 4.
However, the incoming batsman Nick Thorpe and inform batsman Usman Rafiq steadied the ship with a solid partnership of 86 to bring the score to 142 for 5 in 26 overs. Nick Thorpe played very well when Parks were in trouble and made a valuable 46. Parks finished their innings with 213 for 9. Usman Rafiq batted very well to finish 49 no. Selva for Bradley Kane took 5 wickets for 31 in 8 overs.
In reply Parks had a great start with the ball as the top order batsmen were cheaply removed by the openers Sarbjeet Singh and Maran Mariyathas, both took two wickets each from their spell of 7 overs. Selva for Bradley Kane, having taken 5 wickets earlier, built an excellent partnership of 127 with Hassan to bring the score to 143. Selva’s 63 was a well composed whilst Hassan played a supporting innings with a score of 33.Both were removed in quick succession by Shahid Khan who bowled very well conceding 48 runs from 8 overs. The introduction of Nick Weekes paid off as he wrapped up the tail enders to finish the inning well short of the target of 214. Parks won convincingly by 37 runs.
