Match report On a hot afernoon, Oakfield won the toss and chose to bat with a very short boundary on one side. One misfortune occurred before the first ball had been bowled when Dan Shalom pulled his hamstring taking guard! It did not prove too much of a hindrance as he and Adam Goldman put on 132 for the first wicket. Shortly after Dan had departed for 41, Adam completed his maiden hundred for the Club, retiring with 110. Parks continued to add runs whilst losing wickets, Vijay being the only other player to reach double figures with 34 not out. Parks ended their allotted 35 overs with 272 for 8.
Writtle's reply started brightly and, as with Oakfield's innings, had a good first wicket partnership. This was ended when Thomas Varnes induced C.Palmer to lob a return catch for 47. Vijay came on shortly afterwards and parks took wickets regularly. Opener G.Marsden and skipper S.Clark were the only other batsmen to reach double figures. Clark finished 55 not out with the help of some dubious decisions and Writtle completed their 35 overs with a score of 204 for 9. Vijay was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 11 from 5 overs.
