Match report Under grey skies and persistent drizzle Oakfield won the toss and elected to bat. After 5 overs this looked the wrong decision with 2 wickets down and only 12 runs on the board; then a twenty-two run partnership for the third wicket between Samuel (5) and Om steadied matters. Om dominated and went on to retire on 30 not out; an excellent knock especially given the conditions. The remaining batsmen took the total to 93 runs for 8 wickets off the allotted 20 overs.
Sulaiman made the breakthrough in the second over and with further wickets from Ibad, Daniel, Pravan and Karandeep and two run outs by Samuel in the subsequent overs the match was reaching a very interesting climax. With 10 overs to go Walthamstow required 37 runs; to win Oakfield would have to take the remaining 3 wickets. Up stepped Amanjit; there was a wicket in each of his next three overs and Amanjit finished with match winning figures of 3-0-4-3. Walthamstow were all out for 79 runs after 15 overs; a good win by 14 runs for Oakfield and a very good all round team performance.
