Match report On a warm sunny evening where the future of Oakfield was under threat of sale by the Council our attention was split between the goings on at the Town Hall and our Midweek League Match against Frenford.
Frenford won the toss and put Oakfield into bat; early wickets fell, two run outs and a clean bowled spurred Frenford on. Opening bat Amanjit (31) stuck manfully to his task and was ably supported by Reuben (13) and Amanjot (11) making his debut. After 20 overs Oakfield totalled 103 runs for the loss of 9 wickets; at the Town Hall our U11 Ibad retired unbeaten.
Oakfield set about defending their score with some accurate bowling and enthusiasm in the field; there were 3 wickets for Karandeep (3-0-7-3), 2 for Om (4-0-15-2) and a wicket apiece for Reuben (2-1-10-1) and Amanjit (4-0-11-1). Fielders chased every ball and with Samuel looking at home in his new wicket keeping role taking two catches the pressure was kept firmly on the batsmen; Frenford finished their 20 overs on 87 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, a win for the Oakfield youngsters by 16 run.
