Match report With one more game left in the Peter Coe, it was very important that OPCC won this game so they were in control of their group going into the final game. OPCC won the toss and elected to bat first and it proved the right choice as they amasses an amazing 324 for 9 off their 30 overs, this beat their previous best of 317-1 against Billericay in their previous game. The star of the show was again Eshun Kalley, who this time made 161 (his third score of 150+ to with 118 in this competition) and this was just as good as his previous 3. He and Ryan Karuna opened the batting and were looking very good before Ryan was out for 38, having stepped onto his stumps whilst trying an elegant cut. Next in was Jaydeep Dhuria who made 24 before he was caught and no other batsman reached double figures and the fact that OPCC were able to set such a huge total was down largely to Eshun as his 161 included fifteen 4s and nine massive 6s. At one stage we were worried about the U11s (who had gathered to watch the game after they had finished theirs) as one 6 after another was landing nervously close to them.
This was always going to be too big of a score for the inexperienced South Woodford batsmen to even get close too and they were never in the hunt and they eventually finished on 165 for 9 off their 30 overs. OPCC used 9 bowlers and they all bowled very well but the main wicket takers were Bhavdeep Singh (6-0-23-3) and Umar Abbas (5-0-23-3), with Harman Sahote, Aman Singh and Jaydeep all taking a wicket apiece. OPCC now play Harlow in their final group game on 28 July and this will be top playing second and it will be a very important game as the winners are guaranteed a home tie.
