Match report Matches between Epping and Oakfield Parkonians are always memorable for one reason or another, and this match will go down as the most memorable of all time. Winning the toss, Amit Kalley, standing in as captain, elected to bat first on what looked like a very flat wicket. In difficult conditions, the Epping bowlers toiled, despite an early breakthrough, which gave them some promise.

Shane Vamadevan and Jibran Azam batted beautifully together and put on a club record 350 run partnership. They complimented one another perfectly, rotating the strike well and punishing the bad balls. Vamadevan scored his maiden senior ton and batted sensibly throughout his innings, stroking the ball effortlessly, as he made 138. Jibran Azam, fresh off the back of 169 against Basildon, was in a destructive mood and played shots all over the outfield. It truly was a pleasure to watch as he made his way to an unbelievable double hundred, the highest league score for Oakfield Parkonians.

The final total of 429/6 is also the highest league score for Oakfield and it capped off a fantastic batting display. The Epping bowlers really struggled in the conditions but Lycett managed to pick up four wickets, the only four falling to bowlers. He finished with figures of 9-0-83-4.

The Epping pitch stayed true during the second innings, providing very little help for the bowlers. Oakfield managed to pick up wickets regularly and it became clear that the total they had set was going to be too difficult to chase down. However, Epping gave it a good shot, skipper Bagga scoring 64 to lead the way. Paran Kalley picked up three wickets (5-0-42-3) and Abdul Razzaq bowled with great discipline to end with figures of 10-1-53-2.

It was a truly remarkable match, where 721 runs were scored for the loss of 15 wickets. It was a great win for Oakfield, who have now won two on the bounce, and it fills the team with huge amounts of confidence as they head towards the second half of the season.
