Match report What a game this was, you had to be there to believe the result. Old Parks batted first and lost both openers very cheaply to be 11 for 2 after 3 overs. However, an 83 run partnership from the young Eshun Kalley and Ronan Karuna seemed to set OPs for a big scored. However, both departed very close together, Eshun run out after a very bright 43 which included 6 fours and a huge 6 and Ronan for a patient 28. This left OPs at 94 for 4 but Devak Rattan hit a quick 31 to post 138 off their alloted 30 overs. This look some 30/40 runs shorts, especially after OPs had posted 250+ in their previous two Peter Coe games. However, what a start by the OP bowlers with Paresh Kalley (6-0-19-1) and Sahil Handa (6-0-38-3) reducing the home side to 17 for 4. Sahil, in particular, bowled with some pace & hostility and Paresh kept it tight at the other end. However, like the earlier inning, Loughton then built a very strong partnership and were 100 for 4 after only 16 overs, needing a mere 39 off 14 overs. It looked very bleak for OPs but what a comeback and some great bowling after the drinks break from Devak Rattan (4-0-14-1)pulled Loughton back to 123 for 6 but it still looked like OPs were staring at their first defeat in the Peter Coe Cup. But Ronan and Karthegan Thavanesan had other ideas. In Ronan's first over he bagged 2 wickets and Karthegan bowled a low, straight delivery to get their main batsmen out for 50, leaving Loughton needing 5 to win but with only 1 wicket in hand. In Ronan's next over the first 5 balls went for 4 runs (the last of this was a very casually run 1 when it should have been 2 runs which would have meant victory for Loughton)and the scores were all square. Ronan's final ball was spooned in the air and easily caught by Devak and Loughton were all out for 138 and match was tied. This was an excellent, high quailty game, played in absolutely the right spirit by both teams.
