Match report 2 weeks ago Old Parks beat Chigwell CC (league champions for the past 3 years) in a good game. In the return for the away match we lost with just an over to spare in this Sunday League timed match.

Unfortunately, we lost the toss and were put in to bat first which proved decisive. Things did not start well with a Diamond duck (first ball wicket)but opener Shuja Naqvi was then joined by Vikram Handa to put on a promising partnership of 99 until Vikram was bowled on 62 in the 24th over. Shuja then went on to partner well with the remaining batsmen making 92 before LBW and provided a backbone to the innings. In particular picking up the run rate at the end was Dhruv Patel coming in at number six who finished 29 before being caught out. The innings finished on a respectable 216 for 7 declared of 45 overs.
In the second half - a tough battle ensued with Chigwell opening bats D Colwill and R Allum. D Colwill finished 100 not out, on the very last ball. Allum made a tough 44 despite our formidable pace bowling attack to be claimed by spinner Dlan Patel. We saw excellent bowling from opener Dhruv Patel: In his first spell he bowled 6 overs 4 maidens with 2 overs just missing a maiden by 1 ball each! He finished with figures (12-4-30-1). Also reliable swing bowling from Vikram Handa (7.1-0-37-0) despite some misfields and an overthrow included. This was mixed with steady spin from Dilan Patel (9-0-41-1) and the only other wicket coming from Shuja's brilliant pace and line (3-1-14-1).
Despite all our efforts and quite a few misfields we failed to remove the wickets necessary and Chigwell won in the 46th over to finish 218 for 3.
