Match report Old Parks (156 for 4) beat Chigwell (155 AO) in the Essex Invitational League match this Sunday.

Old Parks put Chigwell in to bat in this timed game. Precision bowling was called for on this dry and dusty outfield that proved to be as fast as an ice-rink the day before. So we opened with Victor Yatheesh and Captain Vikram Handa. Vikram claimed his first scalp in his first over with an inswinging yorker, to be repeated in his second over. Victor unfortunately was unable to capitalise this Sunday finishing his spell on 4-0-25-0. Vikram was denied a wicket on his fourth over as stumps flew again but was given a no-ball decision saving batsman Hutchinson who then top scored for Chigwell on 49 before being caught by Vikram of Pira’s bowling. Other mistakes were made in the field, best left unsaid and forgiven.

Paran Kalley (8-4-18-1) claimed key wicket R Allum on his first ball as England took their last wicket in the ashes test match on TV. Dhruv Patel, left-arm seamer displayed exemplary skills claiming a 5 wicket haul, giving away only 16 runs and 4 maidens, 2 wicket maidens! Dhruv finished with best figures of 10-4-16-5. Ever economical spin from Shahid Khan reduced the run rate further, until Vikram returned for his second spell to finish the innings claiming a deserved 3rd wicket - breaking the bail in the process to finish on 10-0-39-3. Chigwell finished on 155 for 10 of 41 overs.

After tea openers Harry Markatis (44) and James Foley (93 no) proved steady as James hit 2 sixes, one rumoured to have reached 120 meters. Old Parks eased home on 156 for 4 of just 26 overs.
