Match report For the first of our Sunday league timed matches Vikram won the toss and elected to put South Loughton in the bat first. We opened the bowling with Nimanka DaSilva (3-0-26-0) and tried to challenge unrelenting batting from seasoned openers Rahman and Williamson. Followed with pressured pace from Prashant Bist (10-2-49-0) and Victor Yatheesh (11-0-80-0). After an early dismissal of Williamson by run out - in came Stokes, and the pair dismantled our bowlers with great effect. Vikram (12-1-83-1)bowled leg-spin to reduce the haemorrhage with some effect, slowing the run rate and taking out their mainstay Rahman to a good catch by Surya Prusty. Rahman went on to make 113; Stokes 79 out of a total 294 for 4 declared after 41 overs. Usman Rafiq's medium pace finished off the innings (5.2-0-27-2)with his medium pace.
After the tea break Old Parks opened with Stan and Vikram, with Stan taking an bow out with a stumping in the 3rd over to the loopy slow delivery of A Battle.With Usman Rafiq joining Vikram the scores began to build up - and just as Vikram(34) managed to aim a 6 at the audience outside the pavilion, nearly knocking over a beer belonging to a Mr Kullar in the process! Vik promptly followed a flurry of beautifully played shots with a catch to deep mid-off to their Captain.
Fireworks really started with the arrival of Prashant Bist to the crease in combination with Usman taking 68 and 62 runs respectively; following their dismissal following wickets tumbled in succession till we were left with our younger partnership of Sahil Handa (20 no) and Paresh Kalley (28 no) took us home for a draw against some formidable bowling from the seasoned bowlers Smith, Williamson and even the opposition Captain Choudhary and opening batsman Rahman decided to have a go. We finished on a respectable 248 for 8.
