Match report A wet day at Oakfields with the forecast showing gloomy signs for the day.

J. Patel won his 6th toss of the year (he must have a lucky coin) and chose to bat on a difficult looking wicket, with a large green top.

Kirandeep Bansal (16) and Shubhang Mehta (11) started well keeping the seeming ball out for 12 overs. Then a few quick wickets struck and Parks were 43-4, with the reliable top order falling to some seaming bowling from Ryatt & Martin. Then came an important anchoring innings from Haris Khan (36) and useful contributions from the middle / lower order all chipping in with 10-20 runs each. Anton Buntin (21 not out) even decided his wicket was so important that he hurled himself into the 3 stumps at the bowlers end to ensure the ball didn't hit it for a run out! On the last ball of the innings, Baldeep Mann (11) hit a shot straight down the ground to the boundary for what looked a certain six. However Martin caught the catch of the season with a one hand leap catching it on the boundary. Parks felt content with 167 knowing the wicket was not an easy one to bat on.

Parks had a relaxing lunch admiring the fact that we had so many square grapes on the plate!

The team talk was had and Parks started with purpose. A devastating opening spell from Haris Khan (8-3-21-3) and Vikram Handa (6-0-17-3) had Woodford on the backfoot 40-6 off 12 overs. 3 clean bowls, a combination of yorkers, inswingers and pace, 2 caught behinds and a blinder of a catch from James Foley at backward point. Woodford Green were on the rocks and Parks smelt blood putting on the spinners with 3/4 players around the bat. Jibran Azam (4.2-3-4-4) bowled a superb spell supported by Baldeep Mann (4-1-14-0) to wrap up the tail. There was some excellent fielding on show today with great catches all around, attacking cricket and Parks looking forward to the game against Pegasus next week.
