Match report The pitch was full of colour, had very little grass on it and looked flat. Old Parks won the toss and elected to bat first, but it was soon clear that the skipper had made an error in judgement. Early wickets fell at regular intervals and Parks collapsed to 16/4 within 10 overs. A slight recovery and Old Parks managed to stumble to 124 before the final wicket fell, one run short of any points. The blushes were somewhate saved mainly due to some clean hitting from lower order batsman, Prashant Bist, who made 44. The only other double figure scores were from Janagan Vijay (29) and Paran Kalley (20). Pick of the bowlers for Benfleet were J. Hodgson (10.5-3-30-4) and S. Burton (11-3-53-3), though all of the Benfleet bowlers put the ball in the right place.

In reply, knowing there was not much to defend, the Parks' bowlers gave it their all. Wickets did fall and there was a time when the match was hanging in the balance. However, the experience of M. Ware, who made 43, helped Benfleet reach their target in 33.1 overs. Victor Yatheesh found his form again and picked up three wickets (8-1-31-3) and was supported by the skipper, Amit Kalley, who picked up two wickets (9-0-38-2).

In the end, Old Parkonians were a few runs too short of making a competition out of the match, and walked away with only two points. The next few weeks will be crucial if the Parks' are going to build on the progress made last season.
