Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 5 Wickets

Match report Old Parkonians put their 1st round league cup thrashing from Brentwood behind them to a record a highly notable five wicket win at division one Shenfield in Saturday's friendly.

The hosts were put into bat by Parks club captain Bobby Curtis and were quickly three down for 100 as Shahed Maan, Bilal Ashfaq and Mir Akhtar kept Shenfield at bay earlier on.

That was until Mark Allen (134) and Rob Wickes (78 not out) then started to take a liking to Parks bowling smashing a stand of 180 with the aide of no fewer than eight dropped catches!

Allen was eventually bowled by Jamie Abbott for an excellent ton in the closing overs as Shenfield rattled up 288-4 from 45 overs.

Parks similarly lost three early wickets in reply with Curtis falling for just 4, but then two young guns of the side in Bilal Ashfaq (45) and John Richards (40) rebuilt the visitors innings.

However, when they fell Parks were 5 down with only 130 on the board and another heavy defeat was likely.

But that wasn't in the thinking of the minds of Paul Warren and Shahed Maan as they proceeded to smash an unbroken sixth wicket partnership of 150 to see the old boys to an impressive five wicket upset. Warren finished unbeaten on a wonderful 77 from just 44 balls and Maan was 73 not out with an innings of quality as both men carved huge sixes and plenty of boundaries in a thrilling run chase, to give Curtis's men belief ahead of their opening SNEL division three encounter at home to West Essex this weekend.
