Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 62 runs

Match report Old Parks match play side played their first game of the season away against Shenfield. In sunny conditions Shenfield won the toss and elected to bat, what a crucial toss to win it proved. Shenfield found themselves 135 for no loss after 16 overs with the two openers batting well in home conditions and picking out the short boundary with ease. The Parks got their first break through in the 18th over with Shane Vamadevan picking up a wicket. Then Dhruv Patel picked up wickets in two successive overs leaving Shenfield 195-3 after 25 overs. However runs kept flowing despite brilliant effort in Taariq Bharuchi’s second spell taking three wickets in three overs. Shenfield finished up on 322-7 after 40 overs despite a strong effort in the field. The parks got off to a flyer with Vamadevan and Patel taking the score to 53 after 5 overs and had the Parks well in the game, despite Vamadevan’s departure during the fifth over Bharuchi and Patel continued to fight on taking the score to 123-1 after 13 overs. Disaster struck when Patel was run out on 45 and then Marcus Wilson quickly followed. However a middle order fightback courtesy of Qais Khan (35) and Prakash Seeralan (35) seemed to tilt the game in our favour, however the score was always too large and the boys finished 260 all out after 39.3 overs. One must also add that the result does not truly reflect the strength of the boys performance today and it is not very often that a team scoring 260 loses.
