Loughton 5th v Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 4th XI on Sat 03 Sep 2011 at 1pm
Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets

Match report Old Parkonians 4th XI lost away to Loughton by 4 wickets.
Basked in glorious sunshine, the Whitbread ground in Woodford played host to the 4th XI's final league game of the season against Loughton 5th XI. Missing key players from last week's emphatic victory against Ilford, Parks were invited to bat first on a flat looking pitch. Despite early optimism of making a big score, complacency struck and Loughton's tight bowling was rewarded as Park’s batsmen played rash shots to straight balls and found themselves in serious trouble at 27 for 3.
Youngsters Stefan Premadasan and Qais Khan, promoted into the top five for the first time this season, made the most of their opportunity and showed tremendous responsibility in rebuilding the innings. They took the score towards 100 as they compiled a fifty run partnership before Stefan unleashed some fierce hitting to break the shackles before drinks. The pair had put on 101 when trouble struck as the belligerent Stefan played one shot too many and was bowled out 9 short of his maiden senior fifty. He was followed, very quickly, by Qais who fell an agonizing three short of his maiden fifty! This was proving to be a day of missed opportunities for Park's as the experienced tail collapsed to rash shots and Parks limped to 163 all out, at least 40 runs short.
Parks came out to field determined to make amends. Qais Khan’s probing spell outside the off stump set the tone as opener, A. Riaz, fell victim to an adventurous “six-two” field. Nick Weekes was, unusually, brought on first change and immediately got spin which, along with his daring flight, ripped out the rest of the top four Loughton batsmen and reduced them to 64 for 4. A resurgent Parks felt momentum was with them but Loughton’s K. Sahibdad quickly wrestled back the initiative as he came out and made a swashbuckling 46 that took Loughton to within 12 runs of victory by the last hour. With defeat inevitable, young Paran Kalley managed to bowl out Sahibdad and along with Nick Weekes, made Loughton work hard for their last 12 runs. Loughton eventually won by four wickets with the experienced and calm C. Watts nudging the winning runs. Nick Weekes finished with figures of 4-47 which included two stumpings by Howard Berlin.
