Match report 3rd XI tied with Wealdstone at Home

Daniel Shalom opened the batting with Alan Bouquet and they put a great opening partnership of 102. The pitch got easier as day got warmer it turned out to be very good batting wicket. Both scored their first half centuries of the new season. Daniel looked very promising and timed the ball exceptionally well. A brilliant catch at the gully departed him with the score on 102, and then no3 batsman Imran Khan was out LBW off only two balls. However, Ilyas Bharuchi joined Alan Bouquet and scored a rapid 57 in making a 3rd wicket partnership of 87. Eventually Parks declared at 236 for 4 wickets.

Wealdstone started their innings at an ultra slow rate and they never looked like chasing the total. Ravi Raval's tight bowling made runs hard to come by and then new comer to the club, Umar Arbar (Dutch Orangie), made a break through by claiming his first wicket. There followed a good partnership of 54 until the skipper had to retire himself out due to lack of breath!! Following his departure they lost wickets at regular intervals until no7 batsman D Shah came to the crease. His batting befitted the IPL. At one stage Wealdstone were looking to reach the target, needing only 10 runs off the last over – but the last wicket fell with only one ball remaining with scores tied. Shah finished with 100 no. It was an exciting start to the season.
