Match report On a sunny but windy day Old Parks won the toss and elected to bat first. However with the match due to start and the Newham team not all being present the two captains agreed to change and Newham opened the batting.
5 wickets fell in quick succession and after 7 overs the score was 45
Newham rallied and managed a reasonable total score of 110 with Najbar retiring on 34 runs.
Old Parks opening batsman Harry Markatis was the early casualty to a LBW decision, swiftly followed by Hassan Chaudhry out for 9 runs. Team captain Jonathan Balakumar (30 not out) steadied the innings batting steadily with Shuja Navqi (24) between them adding 54 runs to bring the required run rate within reach for the remaining batsmen.
Just as Old Parks looked to have the game in the bag 3 wickets fell in 2 overs meaning it was to be another nail biting and exciting finish for the team with 21 runs required off the last three overs. Newham held a big team conference to decide who was to bowl their last two overs but in the end it did not matter as Elliott Osborne in at number 9 hit 5 runs off two balls to win the game for Old Parks in the 19th over.
