Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 3 wickets

Match report Oakfield Parkonians were hopeful to make it two wins out of two against their opponents but today was not our day.

The day started with Parks believing they have the luck on their side as stand in skipper Matthew Holland lost the toss and the team were put into bat (which he wanted to do anyway). However, this is where the luck would run out. OPCC slumped to 36 for 6 after 12 overs. Young colts Mannan Arora (10) and Sujeeve Suganthan (12) looked impressive until they were dismissed. A much need partnership was needed from the remaining team members; 12 overs and 112 runs later Matt retired on 50* to let George continue the onslaught and to give the 3 remaining teammates a chance. George reached his excellent 50 with a huge six over long on and reached his century with an even bigger hit. George's 101* consisted of 12 4's and 5 6's (one going over the trees into the Redbrigde car park). When both Matt and George retired it brought 2 colts to the crease (Aayush Desai 12* and Kajanantis Skandamoorthy 10*). Young Kaj impressed with great patience to support George and brilliant running when joined by fellow U13 teammate Aayush. Aaysuh played some lovely shots to finish on 12*.

After tea parks did not carry on their momentum as the Chigwell openers raced to 35 off 4 overs. George Christian's (8-1-24-3) introduction seemed the correct decision as he quickly got one of the openers out with a great catch from Chetan Patel. Young Kaj who impressed with the bat also impressed with the ball. His 8 overs only went for 30 runs and he was very unlucky to only get the 1 wicket. Up and coming colt Sujeeve Suganthan bowled great spin to sneer 3 prize wickets. The game was always close but catches win matches and this proved today as we dropped catches and didn't win the game. The drop catches meant we couldn't build pressure on the opposition batsmen.

A special mention goes out to Taaha Naqvi, Sreeroop Maniyath and Howard Berlin who throughout the day were talking and encouraged the colts to make them think about their game. All the colts were loud in the field proving that they were not scared and belonged at this level of cricket. This is a great sign for the future of OPCC
