Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 30 runs

Match report Old Parks lost to Palm Trees CC from Highgate by 30 runs in a 40 overs friendly.

On the hot plains of the home savannah Old Parks lost the toss to be put in by Palm Tree to bat on the oasis of green (square) with temperatures soaring after the midday sun. Amongst mad dogs and Englishmen P Moore and Tennyson took to the crease. Prakash Seeralan (7-1-27-0) and Vikram Handa (6-1-38-1)opened with Vikram claiming the first wicket in the 4th over with an inswinging yorker. Next wicket was sometime coming as P Moore built up an innings and ended on 136 before being caught by Paran Kalley at the ropes off of Ronan Karuna's bowling. What bowling it proved to be: Ronan claimed the bowling cap today taking a five wicket haul to finish 5-0-34-5!
The heat took its toll on the field despite good efforts from Shahid Khan claiming 2 wickets and Paran Kalley took 1 further wicket with Palm Tree finishing on 247 for 9.
In the late start second half around 5:30, with the weather cooling in their favour, Palm Tree bowlers opened with good length actions challenged largely by James Foley who made another ton to finish stumped on 105. Wickets fell early and left our colts to attempt a salvage operation. Bravely Paran Kalley (14)and Sahil Handa (25) pressured the run rate upwards until caugt behind and run out respectively. Old Parks finished very late on 217 for 9.
