Match report A wonderful Sunday afternoon saw Oakfield Parkonians take on Archway Ladder at the lush Alexandra park in North London. Young man Paresh Kalley was stand in skipper, whilst the normal skipper had a well-earned rest. OPCC won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a flat deck and small square boundaries. With overseas pro Ravi Teja in the batting lineup a score of 250+ was always on the cards and from the start of the innings, George Christian and Chetan Patel opened up the innings with an opening stand of 180 with some great stroke play from both batsmen. George decided to retire 106 not out and this included 15 fours and 3 sixes and his title of “run machine” title proved correct after this marvellous innings. Chetan also finished with a half century to his name but was caught at long off going for one too many boundaries. His innings of 59 included 10 fours and 1 six.. After that magnificent opening stand, both Paresh Kalley and Usman Rafiq continued where the openers left off and with 14 overs to go and formed an unbroken stand of 118 with Usman finishing on 38* and Paresh on 46* with great stroke play from the pair. Parks finished on 263 off their 40 overs which seemed as a relatively par score and this without their star overseas getting to the middle.

After a well deserved tea, Karan Bansal started the innings well picking up an early wicket and finishing on figures of 6-0-21-1, generating some great drift and in swing. Wickets from B. Trivedi (6-0-25-1) C. Patel (3–0-36-1) and Eshwar 4-0-41-1. However, the small boundaries made for some big hitting from the opposition batsmen, leaving Archway needing 5 runs from the last over. The skipper himself decided to bowl the last over and having conceded 3 runs from the first ball, it looked like Archway would win the game but Paresh kept his nerve and composure and bowled an excellent final 5 balls and saw The Parks win by 1 run. This was a great game of cricket which went down to the final over.
