Match report Parks welcomed Brentwood CC s 5thXI hoping to repeat the shock early season win against the table toppers and keep alive hopes of promotion.

Stand-in skipper Bal Diocee won the toss and chose to bat looking for maximum points. After what seemed a promising start Diocee (9) fell LBW trying to clip one off his legs. This set the tone and one after another the Parks batsmen made the walk out to the middle and after a short stay made the walk back. Of the middle order that had batted so well early season only Jeevan Chahal (10) and Sachin Fing (10) made double figures. It looked as if Parks would be skittled for well under 100 until Akhil Patel (15) was joined by Abdul Usman (13) to provide some resistance to frustrate Brentwood. Thomas (15) and Samuel Varnes (9 n.o.) then pushed the score on to something defendable taking the total to 156 all out (36.2 overs).

After what Brentwood described as the best tea that had been treated to all season - Parks took to the field hoping that the bowling attack could perform a miracle - it was not to be.

In form batsman Shane Surujbally took the game away with a solid 67n.o and only the swing of Abdul Usman (2 wickets) and the guile of Andrew Beaven (1 wicket) could prise out any Brentwood batsmen. Shafaat Javeds 53 quick runs put the result beyond doubt with young Ollie Cohen (13) and Alex Barry (4) finishing things off unbeaten.

A poor performance with particularly with bat, ball and in the field. The performances of the players brought in to strengthen the team left Parks hugely disappointed as they failed to deliver with both bat & ball. The Parks skipper thinks of what could have been had we shown faith in the players that got us this far and dragged an embarrassing batting performance today to one that had a semblance of respectability - if not competitiveness. Promotion now looks virtually impossible.
