Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 5th XI v Chingford 4th on Sat 26 May 2018 at 12.30
Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 32 runs

Match report OPCC 5th XI won by 32 runs.
On a beautiful day at Fords ground, Parks won the toss and chose to bat first on a hard and dry surface.

Chingford opening bowler Fareed Uddin took advantage of the strong wind blowing across the ground and removed the Parks openers early. Despite the flat wicket, the sluggish outfield and the the wind causing the ball to move around in the air made scoring difficult but Umar Arbar and the inform Sachin Fing, patiently rebuilt the innings. After Umar Arbar was dismissed for 38, Sachin Fing went on to score 53. Along with Akhil Patel (19), Park’s declared their innings on 161 for 8. It was not certain whether this would be enough but the wind seemed to give the Parks bowlers confidence.

Andrew Beaven, returning to league cricket after a 2 year absence, showed no rustiness as he bowled with excellent control to show all why he is the second highest wicket taker in Parks 112 year history. He eventually broke through the Chingford top order, clean bowling two of the top three. It was Akhil Patel however who was the most destructive. Carefully using the cross winds to swing the ball into the Chingford middle order batsman and clean bowling F Uddin and D Harris in quick succession. 6 runs later, Balvinder Diocee took a stunning catch low to his right at cover to dismiss Chingford captain Howard Nicholson off Akhil’s bowling. With Chingford opener Michael Blake falling for a 24 the next over it looked terminal for Chingford. Apart from some lusty blows from Chingford number 9 Ben Hall, opening bowler Nimanka De Silva returned for a second spell and continued his great form from last week to clean bowl the last three Chingford batsman within 5 deliveries. Parks winning by 32 runs. Akhil Patel finishing with astonishing figures of 3 wickets for 6 runs off his 7 overs.

Another strong victory for the Oakfield Parkonians 5th XI leaves them just 3 points behind the league leaders Brentwood and they will hope to make it three wins on the trot at Harold Wood next week.
