Match report Another week, and another must win match. Parks captain Gurmit won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, it was quickly evident that it was going to be a tough pitch to bat on, with Parks loosing wickets at regular intervals. Although the pitch can be blamed somewhat, the Parks batting line-up collectively must take responsibility for today’s lacklustre display. Parks were bowled out for 103 in the 36 over, leaving Upminster 49 over to overhaul the set target. The only notable batting contributions coming from Gurmit (22), Abdul Usman (24) and young OM Thakeria, who was sent up the innings to hold one end up, which he did admirably by batting for 14 overs.

Parks went into defend the small target with confidence and determination. Opening with Abdul and Mike, both bowlers bowled with pace & supreme control. Abdul was the pick of the bowlers finishing with figures of (7-4-5-7), and Mike contributed superbly with figures of (7-6-1-1). On the day Abdul was simply unplayable. By the time the opening combination was taken off, Parks had reduced Upminster to 15 for 8. First change bowler Shanker came onto to take the remaining 2 wickets (4.5-2-10-2), and by doing so Parks had dismissed the opposition for 28 runs. Parks winning by 75 runs.

Overall a fantastic result for Parks, a great bowling performance, but a disappointing batting performance. Park’s go into the final league match of the season with confidence, knowing that a positive result may be enough for them to be promoted.
