Match report OPCC 4th XI drew with Harold Wood 5th XI away match played on 4th June 16

Harold Wood had to settle for a draw in the last over, scored 202 for 6 chasing 205. Earlier Parks scored 205 for 6 wickets in 45 overs, having to put into bat first by the opposition skipper. Parks started well on a difficult artificial pitch as Bal Diocee (36) and Y Karuna put on a opening partnership of 47 in 12 overs, but lost both openers in a quick succession to leave the in-form batsman Adam Goldman and Maran Mariyathas to steady the ship. Both batted well to bring the score to 89 after 24 overs. Parks lost Maran for 16 and Shaid playing his first game after his absence of 4 weeks managed only 2 runs. Despite losing 4 wickets after 26 overs Parks managed to bring the score to 205 for 6 in 45 overs, thanks to a valuable partnership of 106 between Adam Goldman (92 no) and the skipper Vijay Vijayanathan (43). Ahmad for Harold wood was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs.

In reply Harold Wood started in a positive way as the opening batsman Chaudary’s big hiiting and the supportive role from Faram looked they were on course for the chase but break through came when Shankar Manicks had Faram caught at the short cover by Y Karuna. Chaudary still at the crease looking dangerous fell victim of Shahid Khan who bowled brilliantly to cause all sort of trouble to the opposition and finished with 4 wickets for 60 runs in his spell of 8 overs. Damery coming in number 8 looked taking the game away from Parks was run out by Nav Kalley for 26. This game turned out to be an exciting one as it looked any result was possible on the day.
