Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 76 runs

Match report OPCC lost the toss and were asked to bowl first on what looked like bowler friendly conditions. Parks got off to the perfect start with Selvam Ramasamy getting the first of his five wickets on his very first ball. However, Harlow Town fought back well and pushed the score to 121-2 and the Parks had a shocker in the field giving their opening batsmen three chances on his way to 97. He was eventually removed by Glenn Sasikaren and after the fall of this wicket Parks continued to take wickets at regular intervals leaving Harlow 256-8 off of their 50 overs. Selvam was the pick of the bowlers 10-3-45-5 and he was supported well by Abdul Razzaq (10-0-38-0) and captain Jibran Azam (10-0-41-2).

After tea, Parks started well with Glenn and Faisal Bhatti putting on 80 for the first wicket. However, Parks soon found themselves 85-3 as they lost both openers and Haris Khan. Glenn hit a well-earned 50 off just 62 balls. Parks struggled thereafter after and were never in the game although the captain showed some resistance but there were too many dot ball in the middle overs and it left the Parks too much to do and resulted in Parks being bowled out inside 42 overs for just 180 runs. The win leaves Park 2nd in the league and it was an opportunity missed as both their main rivals (Belhus and Gide Park & Romford also lost). This now leaves Parks 23 points behind leaders Belhus but 9 in front of Gide Park & Romford and they must look forward to their next game against Wickford who are bottom of the league. This is a must win game for Parks if they are to continue with their push for promotion as they haven’t won away in the league all season.
