Billericay 4th v Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 13 Jun 2015 at 1pm
Match was Drawn

Match report What a week a difference makes as OPCC really made this a ‘day to remember at the officer’. They were playing Billericay 4s, who were top of the table and had won their opening 5 games. On a cold, miserable day OPCC lost the toss and were put into bat. Alan Bouquet and Teerath Diocee made an excellent start and raced to 62 after only 10 and put on 91 for the first wicket. Teerath in particular, was brutal on anything short or over pitched and made a very well-crafted 47 (including 8 fours) before he was caught trying to play one shot too many. This allowed Billericay to shift the momentum towards them as they took another 2 quick wickets to reduce OPCC to 114 for 3. However, Alan remained as solid as ever at one end and steadied the ship before he became the fourth wicket to fall but not before he made a very good looking 52 (with seven 4s). After Alan’s fall, Gurmit Bhatia and Ryan Karuna put together a very entertaining and quick 59 partnership off only 11 overs before they fell in quick succession, first Gurmit for 33 and then Ryan for 35. Wickets then fell at regular intervals as OPCC chased quick runs and were finally bowled out for 230 off 48 overs.
This was still anyone’s game as Billericay possessed a number of batsmen who were very capable of catching down this score but the excellence of OPCC’s bowling and fielding never allowed them to even consider trying to win the game. The opening bowling attack started very well with, first Nav Kalley removing their opener in only the third ball of the innings and Anuj Tewari doing likewise in the second over. Billericay consolidated somewhat over the next few overs but first change Inderpreet Bathia soon changed that, taking 2 quick wickets. The first was down purely to the excellence of Teerath, who took an absolute stunning catch in the deep and has to be a contender for catch of the season as it was simply out of this world and even the opposing batsman could not believe he was out. Pirratheesh Vigneswarathasan maintained the standard of OPCC’s fielding by also taking a reflex catch at first slip, which absolutely flew to him. Wickets fell regularly but OPCC could not quite get over the line and Billericay finished on 100 for 8 off 42 over of very high quality bowling. The pick of the bowler were Anuj Tewari (12-0-41-4) and Inderpreet Bhatia (11-5-18-2) who both bowled with some pace and troubled all the Billericay batsmen.
