Match report This was the OPCC colts’ final attempt of the season to reach a final, having lost in the semi-final of the U13s Len Stentiford Cup, quarter final of the U18s and missed out on the u16 Matchplay semi after playing some excellent cricket in the group stages. However, the youngsters did not fail to deliver as they beat a very strong Upminster U15s by 5 wickets.
OPCC won the toss and elected to field first on a very damp outfield and bowled & fielded exceptionally well to resist Upminster to 108 for 4 off their 2o overs. The tempo for the game was set by the opening pair of Aman Patel (4-0-16-0) and Abdul Usman (4-0-19-1) as Upminster could only manage 35 for 3 off their first 8 overs. Unlike in previous games, OPCC did not let this great start slip and some excellent support bowling by Pranav Khetia (4-0-13-1) ensured Upminster could only manage another 73 off their final 12 overs. The bowlers were supported by great out fielding and this really was disciplined display by all 11 players to resist Upminster to only 108.
However, this was still going to a difficult target against a very strong bowling attack but the outcome was never really in any doubt once Ronan Karuna (16) and Sahil Handa (24) had given OPCC a great start and they put on 55 without loss in the 10th over before Sahil was bowled but good and sensible support batting from Paresh Kalley (14) and Karthegan Thavanesan (14no) saw the U15s reach the final of the Cox & Kings. This will be played against Woodford Well at Woodford Wells and the game starts at 2pm.
