Match report Playing in the knock out stage of the U15 National Cup, the young parks fell short today by 7 runs.
The opposition won the toss and elected to bat first. Helped by some overall poor bowling (33 extras) Fives & Heronians were able to set OPCC with a very challenging total of 155 to win.
OPCC started poorly with 3 wickets falling within the first 3 overs. From the top order the only worthwhile contribution came from captain Paran, who remained retired not out on 52.
Needing roughly 11 a over of the last 7 overs, the lower order today excelled. In pitch darkness Abdul and Kartheghan both launched a breathtaking counter attack on the opposition, with Abdul contribution 22 and Kartheghan 27. OPCC being bowled out for 148 with 4 balls to spare. So near yet so far. In the end OPCC effectively losing to the excessive extras conceeded.
