Match report Another comprehensive win for Parks at the back-end of the season.

A story of a strong opening and middle order batting display and good seam and spin bowling sealing the win. The day started with Parks losing the toss and being put into bat on a difficult and slow looking wicket.

Parks started well, but a very strange turn of events occurred 25 minutes into the first innings, when new boy Faisal Bhatti had a call saying his wife had gone into labour early! A first for many, Faisal retired "out" and rushed home. Thankfully everything worked out well and Faisal was able to welcome a baby girl into the world and Parks were relieved they were the ones who didn't prevent him from that special moment! Back to cricket, a good 67 partnership between Sachin Vara (57) and Jibran Azam (24) build solid foundations for team. Jibran was outdone by a bowl that stayed incredibly low (bouncer length), but then came a superb building of an innings from Tahaa Naqvi (61). Tahaa built a composed innings with some glorious sixes in the process. He was ably supported by Vikram Handa who, in his usual style, punished the bowlers scoring 38 in as many balls. The batters put Parks into a solid position at 200-4 from 40 overs but unfortunately the slow wicket and some decent depth bowling meant Parks were bowled out for 236 with only Usman Rafiq (28) showing any resistance at the end.

Parks felt this was a strong score on a tough looking wicket.

Basildon started well with an opening stand of 40 and Parks were a little sloppy at the start. Then came the tumble and skipper JP kept faith with his seamers who delivered in superb fashion. Both Baldeep Mann (7-1-34-2) and Amar Thanki (7.5-1-38-3) restricted Basildon to 60-4 when the spin dream team was introduced. But for some resilience from Basildon skipper, Jibran, Abdul and Ronak took 5 wickets between them building pressure and bowling some superb deliveries within their spells. Parks felt hard done by on some of the umpiring decisions and were resorted to taking 8 of their 10 wickets bowling the batsmen through the gate and 2 good catches also.

A good win for the club and positive signs that the right application can deliver the right results.
