3rd XI won by 150 runs

OPCC won the toss and decided to post the first total. Parks began with strong start with T. Naqvi (42) and A. Bouquet (39) putting on a 65 partnership after 14 overs before the first fall of wicket. Both openers were caught within overs of each other but their fine batting really set the tone on what was to come from the Parks side. Partnerships formed with the middle order batsman, with Reuben (26) looking in really good nick, followed by a strong performance by U. Rafiq (36) and G. Christian (32) putting on an 80 partnership in just 12 overs. A quick cameo from I. Iqbal (18), hitting a 6 first ball before getting caught on the boundary, allowed Parks to post an target of 252. With a very balanced side and a strong batting line up, this was possibly Park’s best innings of the season with a contribution from everyone, despite no half century being scored.

With a massive target to chase, Chingford really had it up against them from the get go. An aggressive attack by the openers K. Parhar (6.3-1-20-2) and T. Raja (5-0-20-1) both picking up a wicket in their first overs, meant Chingford were already on the back foot. In came I. Iqbal (8-2-23-2) with yet another consistent performance, bowling 8 overs on the trot finishing his spell with a wicket maiden. G. Christian also came into the attack with an outstanding performance with the ball, gathering 2 wickets with final figures of 5-3-3-2. Despite Chingford having difficulties with the fielding on a very dry outfield, Parks made it look easy restricting Chingford to just 102 runs all out. This was possibly one of the best all round team performances of the season yet, and we look forward to our next game away at South Woodford with 3 wins on the bounce.
