Match report Oakfield Parks were at home in the league cup to Gidea Park from division above. On a windy cold day Captain Dave Rai won the toss and decided to have a bat.

New recruit Shaun Tuitt started the charge with a run a ball 30 to propel us of to a flyer. This allowed the middle order to tick it along nicely. Vice skipper Harris Khan scored a sensible 30 to keep the momentum going. Then young Essex 2s player Eshun Kalley capped of the innings with a mature 63 to bat till the last ball to see us register a very good 230.

We hit them hard with the ball as opening pair Selvam Ramasamy and Eshun dismantled the Gidea top order to leave them reeling at 31-6. Superb area bowling meant in tandem Gidea didn’t know were there next run would come. Abdul Razzaq then cleaned up the tail as we rolled them for 120 to scalp the div one team in the cup. A great effort by the fielding unit to support the bowlers.

A good start to the competitive games and we host division rivals Southend at home next Saturday in round 2.
