Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won 42 Runs

Match report On a beautiful sunny day OPCC captain won the toss and decided to bat first.
Opening with Adam Godman and Akhil Patel both batsmen batted very well together, with Adam following his century from last week, with a very well made 66. Akhil played his part with a well-crafted 36. The incoming batsmen failed to really push the score much further, with the exception of Balvinder Diocee and Manicks Shanker who made 24 and 22 respectively. The opposition’s young fast bowler on seeing Bal coming to the crease, shortened his run-up and speed, only to be thumped by the ever confident Bal. The youngster went back to his full run-up and pace, only once again to cover driven by Bal. The young man was quite literally taught a valuable life lesson that ‘appearances can be deceiving’. After this intriguing passage of play, wickets fell cheaply and OPCC were bowled out for 181 of 33 overs. Disappointing not to have utilised the full allocated 40 overs.
OPCC in defence off the total scored, opened with two colts Aman Patel and Jaydeep Duria. Both youngster’s bowled exceedingly well, with Aman finishing with figures of (8-3-17-1) and Jaydeep (6-1-19-2). Senior pro Manick Shanker as expected followed up his good batting display with two wickets for 23 runs of 6 overs, as did Suresh Rawal who bowled really well, and ended with figures of (6-3-9-1). Young colt (Under 11) Amanjeet Singh making his adult debut today for OPCC bowled two overs (2-0-5-0) as well, showing great promise for the future. The fine bowling display enabled OPCC to restrict the opposition to 139 for 7 of their allocated 40 overs, and thereby win the match by 42runs.
