Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 2nd XI v Chingford on Sat 14 Jul 2018 at 12.30
Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 8 runs

Match report On a hot afternoon skipper Harry Markatis won the toss and elected to bat in their second home game in 2 weeks against Chingford, looking to make it 5 wins on the bounce.

H. Markatis (28) and Faisal Bhatti (69), a new opening combination, started the innings well scoring freely through risk free strokes. The pair put on an opening partnership of 78 after 14 overs before Markatis was dismissed, run out at the non-strikers end an over before drinks. This brought Paresh Kalley (26) to the crease, who batted the situation rotating the strike with ease and allowing F. Bhatti to score easily at the other end, their partnership of 61 boosted Parks into a commanding position. But in typical Parks fashion, there is always a twist, as first F. Bhatti caught trying to go big, and P. Kalley were dismissed in the same over. Parks lost 3 wickets for just 9 runs in the space of 2 overs, all of a sudden things weren't looking so good. But Janagan Vijay (36) played a lovely knock, supported excellently by Sifth Ali as the pair put on 47 to repair the damage of wickets falling in quick succession, allowing short cameos from Sahil Handa (18), Ravi Raval (13) and Tarun Bhatia (11) all running hard and scoring quickly late on to elevate Parks to 251 all out. A very competitive score on the home deck.

After tea Parks Sifth Ali (9-1-57-0) and Sahil Handa (4-0-18-1) tried to take early wickets but just couldn't make it happen, as it was truly miraculous how the opening pair of Chingford survived. Sifth in particular bowled beautifully, great line and length, extremely unlucky not to take any wickets with his figures not a true reflection of how he bowled. Chingford were going nicely, but still behind the rate as Ravi Raval (7-1-19-1) removed the other opening batter after drinks and bowled perfectly in the conditions restricting the opposition excellently. Paresh Kalley (7-0-30-1) picked up the wicket of their number 3 in the 23rd over as he and Dilan Patel (9-0-60-1) bowled well through the middle overs, Dilan unfortunate to not take more wickets. However, Chingford 4 and 5 gave their side a chance both scoring 50's batting well and running hard, even though at this stage Parks were firmly in charge. Chingford required 19 of the last 2 overs, Faisal Bhatti (1-0-7-1) holding his nerve and bowled an excellent, taking the vital wicket which arguably won the game. Pranav Khetia (4.5- 0-28-5) bowled excellently at the death, mixing up his pace and flight, making it very difficult to be hit as Parks saw it home winning by 8 runs.

A lot closer than it should have been, but another win nonetheless. Massive appreciation should be shown to a young man, Aman Singh, who played as a 12th man when one player had to leave early. A great young talent and one for the future, fielded brilliantly and without him Parks would not have one that game with 10.

Massive game against Loughton next week to carry on building a gap.
