Match report Parks went into the second half of the season at the top of the table having turn fortunes round when in the bottom 2 after the first 3 games. Brathwaite won the toss a decided to bat on what looked like a flat pitch. It turned out however to be one with inconsistent bounce and the openers had to work hard to see off the new ball and find any fluency. Brathwaite fell first with the score on 35. Dhruv and Kiani then upped the pace before Kiani (14) fell just as he was looking dangerous. This brought in Ravi, the man in form. Parks then lost Dhruv (38) and Paran in quick succession. This brought in Aman to play an extremely mature innings to help steady the ship. Ravi caressed the ball to all parts of the ground and looked pure class. Aman tore into the spinners with some lusty blows. The pair put on a magnificent 127 run partnership before Aman departed for a tremendous 67. Ravi continued in his controlled fashion before finishing the innings with 2 massive 6s to take Old Park to a very respectable 272. Another sparkling innings by Ravi who scored his 2 league ton finishing on 116*.
The teas were enjoyed by all. Old Parks knew they were in a game as South Woodford got off to a fantastic start scoring 57 off the first 10. Selva bowled with tight control and the introduction of Eshun Kalley, who bowled with pace and good lines, slowed the run rate. There overseas nicked off but failed to walk. Eshun was very unlucky not to get a wicket he deserved. On came the spin kings to strangle the run rate even further and with that Old Parks chipped away taking wickets at the important times leaving South Woodford chasing the game. Abdul finished with figures of 3-37 and Ravi with 2-44. Anujan and Eshun both bowled good second spells and that machine, Selva came back to mop up the tail ,finishing with 3-33. In the end a resounding victory which could have better but for a number of easy dropped catches. We are top and to stay there we need to up our games for remainder of the season.
